Bambi Gallery was established in 2005 to promote the arts in the Fishtown area of Philadelphia, PA, and is considered by many to be a welcome step in turning the area into an arts community corridor.
20 framed Postcard Diary prints were featured at this show, which was the first solo show of Mothersbaugh's artwork in Philadelphia. Included were brand new prints, which were making their public debut, as well as some older prints dating back to Mark's 2003 Homefront Invasion! Gallery Tour, and his 2005/2006 Gallery Tours.
Amongst the crowd were some notable folks: Jeff Winner from The Raymond Scott Archives, Steve "Steve-O-Lution" Saputelli of Philly's own Punch Drunk & Obomatic, Skip Elsheimer of the 16mm film-obsessed entity known as A/V Geeks, Singer/Musician Robin Renee, and local award-winning hair artist Julius Scissor.
Mark was spending time with his wife & daughter on Easter Weekend in Los Angeles and wasn't able to attend...but that didn't negatively affect opening reception night, which was very well-attended. Mark did mention how much he enjoyed talking via phone with the journalists & radio hosts from Philly.
Special thanks to Candace & the entire Bambi Gallery crew for such a successful show, to Wendy Seiferheld for putting me in contact with Bambi initially, and to my friends Steve Saputelli and Jeff Winner for making my visit to Philly very enjoyable.
